PILLING
All sweaters made with animal fiber will pill at some point, it is in their nature. Pilling is not synonymous with poor quality and will decrease over time.
A pill remover or sweater comb does an incredible job at removing naturally occurring pilling on your sweater and will restore it to like-new condition.
WASHING
Knitwear rarely needs to be washed after each wear, especially knits that are used as layers with (e.g) a t-shirt underneath. Knitwear made with animal fibers naturally repel or wick away moisture and dirt. You can spot clean or air out your knits, or take your sweater to the dry cleaner.
Follow the care label exactly and carefully.

At James Street, we are committed to sustainably producing high-quality, timeless pieces you’ll want to wear for years to come. We take time to select only the finest yarns, fibers, and fabrics with traceable origins and produce them in fair-wage ethical factories.
Each collection is produced in small limited batches, with no restocks, for exclusivity and to avoid overproducing, so each of our pieces finds a home.
All of our pieces are ethically made in LA or Peru. Each knitwear piece is knit to shape, meaning there is minimal yarn waste. We use only BCI, GOTS, OCS Certified Natural Fibers, RWS Certified Wool, and RAS Certified Alpaca. Our synthetic fibers are sourced from recycled materials, and our nylon is the first non-petrochemical nylon. Then finish our pieces, Corozo buttons, which are plant-based buttons made from “ vegetable ivory” in Panama.
Since the beginning, we have selected raw materials and factories that give you well-made pieces that last and aim to reduce this industry's environmental impact.
To help keep our garments in homes and out of landfills, we have launched our new Archive site, allowing you to buy and re-sell past JS styles.
